My Story

As a full-time working wife and mother, I take a lot of pride in raising my family and running my household. But life, as we know it, is going to throw us some less-than-fabulous challenges. I'm using this blog as a personal tool to help regain control of some areas of my life and to stay on track. These areas include:

Personal finances and debt
My husband and I carried a significant debt load before we got married; after the wedding, it just got worse. We bought a house, furnished it, had a fairly large wedding (we both come from big families), and had our first child all in less than two years. Together, we owe a whopping $23,000 in consumer debt. We also have zero savings and no emergency fund. This is obviously not something we're proud of. But it's something we acknowledge and must take seriously in order to make a better life for our family. I'm hoping that being open about it on this blog will help bring some new ideas to the table and keep us on track.

Household clutter
Just as our finances are in a mess, so is our home! I've heard it said many times that clutter can start to take over every aspect of your life...and boy, is it true! I've started to make a dent in the clutter and am slowly reaping the rewards that an organized, clutter-free home can bring, such as less stress, more productivity, greater sense of peace, etc. But I'm still a LONG way away from having the completely organized home that I so desire. Expect many posts concerning my progress!

Work
My current work environment has had a huge (negative) impact on my health and well-being. While I do think that the work itself is both interesting and challenging, the negativity and complete lack of support that surrounds me on a daily basis has become highly toxic. This is an area that calls for much attention, and I'm determined to make some significant changes to resolve the issue over the course of this year.

Infertility
After having such an easy time conceiving our baby girl, my husband M and I were surprised that the second time around would be so different. For two and a half years, we struggled for a positive result...and one finally came, but sadly ended in an ectopic pregnancy on my ovary. While this is an area I really have no control over, I can control how I feel about the issue. I plan on enjoying every precious moment with my daughter, and to continue to thank God for the blessings I've been given.

Well, there you have it. This is a personal journey. I'm not a financial expert or a health professional. I'm just a young woman determined to find the fabulous in today, and continue working towards an even better tomorrow. You may relate to one or more of these categories, or none at all. But your comments, personal stories, and creative ideas are certainly welcome and much appreciated. Thanks for reading!
